Citation Generator provides a free online tool that generates formatted academic citations from user-supplied metadata. The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranty of any kind, express or implied.
Accuracy of citations
While we strive to produce correctly formatted citations, citation styles are complex and change over time. Always verify citations against the current edition of the relevant style guide before submitting academic work. We accept no liability for formatting errors or inaccuracies in generated citations.
Acceptable use
You may use the Service for personal, educational and professional purposes. You must not: (a) use the Service to generate citations for fraudulent academic submissions; (b) scrape or systematically download citation outputs at scale without prior written consent; (c) attempt to circumvent rate limits or access controls; (d) use the Service in any way that violates applicable law.
User accounts
You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials. You must notify us immediately of any unauthorised access to your account. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.
Intellectual property
Bibliographic data (author names, titles, dates, etc.) is factual and not subject to copyright. The website design, software, code and brand assets are the property of Citation Generator. You may not reproduce them without prior written permission.
Third-party services
Metadata lookups use third-party APIs (including Crossref). We are not responsible for the accuracy, availability or terms of these external services.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Citation Generator and its operators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages arising from your use of, or inability to use, the Service.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms at any time. We will update the date at the top of this page when we do so. Continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised terms.
