Privacy Policy
Information we collect
We collect only the information you voluntarily provide when you create an account — your email address and a hashed password. We do not collect, store or sell any additional personally identifiable information, and we do not embed advertising trackers of any kind.
How we use your information
Your email address is used solely to authenticate your account, send essential transactional messages (such as password reset links), and communicate important service updates. We do not use your email for marketing without your explicit consent.
Citation data
Citations and projects you save are stored in our database and associated with your account. This data is used exclusively to provide you with the service — we do not analyse, sell or share individual citation records with any third party.
Metadata lookups
When you perform a DOI, URL or ISBN lookup, your query is forwarded to third-party metadata APIs (such as Crossref) to retrieve bibliographic information. These requests do not include your personal information beyond a standard User-Agent string.
Cookies and local storage
We use a single session cookie to keep you logged in. No third-party tracking cookies are set. Browser local storage may be used to preserve your generator state across page loads — this data never leaves your device.
Server logs
Our web server retains standard access logs (IP address, requested URL, timestamp, browser type) for up to 30 days for security monitoring and abuse prevention. These logs are not shared with third parties and are automatically purged after the retention period.
Third-party services
We do not embed social widgets, advertising networks or cross-site analytics scripts. External links to publishers or databases are independent services with their own privacy policies.
Data deletion
You may delete your account and all associated data at any time from your account settings page. Deletion is permanent and takes effect immediately.
Children's privacy
This service is intended for users aged 13 and over. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us for immediate removal.
Changes to this policy
If we materially change this policy we will update the date at the top of this page. Continued use of the service after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
